Danutė Gečytė

The country stories, old agricultural and household utensils are being collected. The old pieces of needlework such as bedspreads, tablecloths and rugs from the village included in the collection as well. At present small gobelin tapestries, embroidery miniatures, dolls on pagan themes are made. Danutë Gečytė participates in various exhibitions demonstrating these pieces of art. Now a country barn is under construction, where meetings and afternoons as well as permanent exhibitions of the works (on country topics) of the author and Algimantas Araimavièius, a photography artist will be held.

• Dolls. Carved from wood. Clothes are sewed, embroidered, made of twigs or woven. The most important thing is to express the character of the doll by keeping it near the folk themes. The first collection of dolls was named "Pagonybė Lietuvoje" (Paganism in Lithuania).
• Embroidery miniatures. A sketch is made and then the country scene or concrete growing flowers are embroidered.
• Small gobelin tapestries. Country scenes of all seasons transferred to sketches trying to express the beauty of the native village as precisely as possible. Weaving with a small loom. Dimensions: from 7x9 cm to 5x22 cm.
